An excellent friendly good humoured and serious Dojo

Sensei Alan Roberts is an excellent teacher. The Dojo is a very spacious and pleasant to train in. The fellow students are very pleasant, friendly and positive. The weapons practice (sword and short staff) is very challenging and enjoyable. Training is a good physical and mental workout in a positive social environment and is great stress relief.

I feel very fortunate to have found this dojo.

A really good place to go and learn, Developing listening skills for use in the dojo will take you a lot further. Remember Everyone has different understandings, so the sensei should be priority one to listen to, and then adapt to your training partner. Words will always be the most powerful tool to develop and learn from another human being, Japanese ones too!

If you want to see a Sensei working overtime, definitely the place to go!

The instruction is very high quality. It encompasses a wide range of historical and practical references to assist with training purpose and learning.

The training space is very good. There is plenty of space and relevant training equipment.

The current club members are very welcoming, approachable and helpful.

Aikido Auckland is such a great place. The way they teach you skills and mobility you can do it at a good pace. Also with Aikido they teach you to use your body a lot so you don't have to be super strong to throw people around! Another thing that is outstanding here at Aikido Auckland is the environment, the people here are the most friendly people you'll ever meet from the white belts to the senior black belts, they make you feel at home and not alone and deserted. Aikido is probably one of the best decisions I have made in my life and want to continue to do it for as long as possible.

Something great to do after work or school

This is a great place to learn about aikido. The instruction is first class and each class provides a challenge for all students regardless of experience level, and also offers something new to learn. The senior students are generous with their time and help to make training here a fun place to be after work or school. They push the other students to be the best they can be, on and off the mat.

The children's classes here are well designed and their students are happy and confident.

I highly recommend this school to everyone!

I had the pleasure of attending several classes recently. I found the culture to be first class. Lots of support. Lots if experience. Lots of fun. The facilities are very good. The training is relevant, diverse and of a high standard. Anyone who is serious about taking up Aikido as a long term study you must consider this Dojo. It will bring out the best in you. The standards are high and everyone is made to feel welcome.

Authentic Traditional Aikido

The aikido of O-Sensei developed in post-war Iwama. This aikido was faithfully preserved by the late Saito Morihiro Sensei who transmitted the art to his students including Alan Roberts Sensei (uchideshi of Saito Sensei). This authentic, traditional aikido can be learnt today at Aikido of Auckland Seishinkan from an instructor of the highest calibre and a recognised martial artist.

Want a direct line to the founder of Aikido (without going overseas)?

Impressive, astonishing, difficult, powerful, frustrating, enlightening. These are the types of word which come to mind when I think of the training I have received at Seishinkan and during seminars featuring Alan Roberts Sensei. He is an authoritative instructor, providing a truly martial style of Aikido with insite and humour. The students, and atmosphere in general, at Seishinkan are welcoming and I really enjoy training there (on the rare occasions I can visit Auckland).
