Auckland Iaido Club

Auckland Iaido Club is an NZ Kendo Federation club that trains in the dojo of the Auckland Kendo Club. The club teaches the Iaido, the art of the Japanese sword, which is based around the performance of kata.

Our instructors have graded in Japan and under the NZKF. Our lead instructor Brent Hansen holds 5th Dan and has trained with a wide range of Japanese Sensei. Other instructors have trained here and in Japan under Sensei holding 8th Dan.

We focus on Seitei and Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido for members of all grades.

Martial Art Styles

Programs & Class Schedule

Training sessions are held on Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm in our Panmure Dojo. All grades are welcome.

Classes begin with warmups including the first set of Muso Shinden Ryu Kata and a full set of Seitei before splitting in to smaller groups for more focused training on individual points.

Students can be any age from 14 upwards. The club does not require a contract, fees are paid on a monthly basis with no termination notice required.
