New Zealand Ryukyu Kempo Association Inc.
Ryukyu Kempo was developed in Okinawa, the largest island of the Ryukyuan chain. Lying near both China and Japan it has influences from both. There are twenty four forms. Starting with japanese then okinawan then chinese types they range from simple to complex. The last form based on the famous red-crested white crane (Hakutsuru) from Fujian, southern China. This system (Bai He Quan) said to have been invented by a woman named Fang Qiniang.
The system specialises in pressure points to accentuate a technique's effectiveness. Natural movements are used not risky acrobatic methods so the training is done the same way for young and old.
The Founder (Francis Karauti - 8th. Level Black Belt) and assistants (Mark Hollis - 7th. and Peni Reti - 6th.) altogether have over one hundred years of experience, each have black belts in other arts too.

Programs & Class Schedule
A contract is signed upon joining. Minimum age is five. No maximum age. A person may watch once and train once before deciding to join or not. A black uniform and white belt must be bought and worn within one month of signing up.
Juniors 5-12 Years old, Intermediates 13-17 years old, Seniors 18 yrs.+
Wellington training sessions.
