Programs & Class Schedule
Taoist Tai Chi® is practiced primarily for good health. Practicing Taoist Tai Chi® increases flexibility of the joints, ligaments and tendons. It strengthens muscles and bones, improves circulation and massages internal organs. Doing Taoist Tai Chi® makes you aware of your body. It trains you to keep your balance. Gradually you discover where you hold tension and you learn to relax.
ANYBODY can do it - young or old, fit or not so fit. If you are looking for a real challenge you might be surprised how far Taoist Tai Chi® can take you.
What does TAOIST mean? Taoism is the cultural heritage of this style of Tai Chi. Its’ origins go back to the 12th century when Taoist monks developed this exercise as a way of maintaining good health and as training for martial arts
Our founder, the late Master Moy Lin Shin, brought this form of Tai Chi to the west from China 40 years ago and the society now has branches in 27 countries around the world.
MEMBERSHIP costs are varied according to circumstances. Membership means you can attend as many classes as you like, anywhere in the world.
The Taoist Tai Chi Society of New Zealand is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation and is a registered charity. Money collected in fees and fund-raising goes towards training instructors and providing practice facilities. Instructors do not get paid; they volunteer to instruct because they want to pass on to others the benefits they have received.
